Abstract

The present paper gives a number of examples of the interaction of policy and science in the field of standard setting and risk assessment. It is stressed that scientific results should explicitly state accuracy and precision. Furthermore adequate management of scientific activities and a more exact definition of problems by policy makers will improve the results in standard setting and risk assessment.
