Part of the book series: Soil & Environment ((SOEN,volume 1))

Abstract

Aim of the research network on agroecosystems FAM (Forschungsverbund Agrarökosysteme München) is the investigation of the ecological effects resulting from two different cultivation systems. This takes place in a long-term experiment on a landscape scale. Main steps of the scientific program are the detection, the prognosis and the evaluation of management induced changes in agroecosystems. Aim of this paper is to show the principal way through the hierarchy of the methodological approach and the different scales, all participants have to follow to contribute to the aim of ecologically optımized farm-systems. To demonstrate this approach we use research on the N-cycle as an example.
