Abstract
CH Cyg is a long period, P=15.6 yr, eclipsing symbiotic binary which contains an SR variable M6.5-7.2 III and a white dwarf probably with strong magnetic field (Mikolajewski et al., 1990a,b). Intensive and unstable accretion of the M giant wind onto the white dwarf leads to a number of spectacular phenomena, such as the series of outbursts during the last 25 years, and the ejection of bipolar jets in mid 1984. We present some results of our optical and IUE monitoring of CH Cyg and its jet in 1984–1989. The optical spectroscopic data have been obtained with the CCS spectrograph mounted at the 90 cm telescope of Toruń Observatory (see, e.g., Mikolajewski et al., 1990a for more details). Some IUE results concerning the jet have been recently discussed by Selvelli et al., (1991).
