Turing Structures In The Presence Of Gradients

  • Chapter
Instabilities and Nonequilibrium Structures IV

Part of the book series: Mathematics and Its Applications ((MAIA,volume 267))

Abstract

To understand recent experimental observations of localized Turing structures in the presence of gradients of concentrations, the patterns observable in two and three-dimensional homogeneous model reaction-diffusion systems are first reviewed. The influence of several types of ramps on the selection and orientation of these Turing structures are then numerically analyzed.
