Abstract
One of the most pressing economic problems in Poland is to restructure and modernize Polish industry as quickly as possible. Industrial production is the most important sector, accounting for more than 40% of gross national income. It is the material basis for the development of all other sectors of the economy, but it is in very poor condition. An inefficient branch structure, more than 70% undercapitalization of its capital equipment, and outdated, high energy-and material-consuming technologies make it unable to compete with economically developed countries on the international market and even the domestic market.
