Abstract

Water plays an essential role in all life processes on our planet and is a valuable raw material in the vast majority of industrial technologies. Both these functions of water point to the need for water conservation. Under the previous economic system in Poland, however, water was treated as a ‘free commodity’, available to all in unlimited quantities and almost without charge.
