  • Chapter
Manual of Biological Markers of Disease

Abstract

Sjögren’s syndrome (SS) is a common, chronic autoimmune disorder with strong female preponderance. It affects primarily the lacrimal and salivary glands, but systemic manifestations as well as lymphoma development can occur in these patients. The disease can be present alone (primary SS) or in association with the majority of the autoimmune disorders (secondary SS).
