Abstract

The basic theme of this conference is the urge for instant communication and instant access to information and the challenge that this brings upon the society in general and the profession of medical librarians in particular. We are flooded with new technologies, new vistas of marvellous ways to communicate with each other. At times it feels as if anything is possible - and a lecture in this conference on instant telepathy would probably just attract an average number of listeners. Since information is valuable, an asset to humanity - this development must mean that the world becomes better and better. Or does it not?
