Part of the book series: Developments in Nuclear Medicine ((DNUM,volume 23))

Abstract

Some quality control aspects of the preparation of [methyl-11C]- and [1-11C]-labelled methionine is examined. The oxidation of [11C]-labelled methionine to its corresponding [11C]-labelled sulphoxide and sulphone during synthesis, purification and in analytical samples is emphasized. Analytical procedures for determination of enantiomeric and radiochemical purity are also discussed.
