Abstract

A decapeptide (M.Wt. 1300 Da), formed by cleavage of the liver protein angiotensinogen by the proteolytic of enzyme renin. Renin is released from the juxtaglomerular cells of the kidney in response to sympathetic activity, dehydration, or salt loss.
