Abstract
Many managers strongly believe that successful benchmarking exercises are only the result of choosing carefully the right methodology. The process of benchmarking, however, although being a tool, is very difficult to apply. It challenges the existing culture of work and scientific practices and methodologies in place. In addition, successful outcomes from benchmarking are heavily dependent on the presence/absence of a commitment to continuous improvement and a TQ-based culture.
