Economic advantages of belt conveying in open-pit mining

  • Chapter

Abstract

Transport systems create a large share both in the initial investment costs and in the operating costs of open pit mines. The main competitive transport systems to be used in larger mines - the discontinuous material transport by trucks and the continuous material transport by belt conveyors - are compared. The advantages of the belt conveyor system are shown by applications of some in-pit crushing and overland conveying systems.
