Planetary Systems: Formation, Evolution, and Detection

Abstract

Large single-dish telescopes and long baseline interferometers operating at mid-infrared to sub-millimeter wavelengths may provide the best opportunity to search for planets and protoplanets during the next several decades. The interior of Antarctica may be the best place to deploy such instrumentation, providing a viable compromise between the costs associated with space-based deployment and site quality.
