Effective Elastic Properties of Solids with Randomly Located Defects

  • Chapter
Probabilities and Materials

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSE,volume 269))

Abstract

Effective moduli of solids with cavities of various shapes are analyzed. The analysis is based on the elastic potentials of solids with defects. The structure of the potential dictates the proper measures of density of defects. It also establishes the overall anisotropy in the case of non-random orientation.
