Information and Collaboration Models of Integration

Part of the book series: NATO ASI Series ((NSSE,volume 259))

Abstract

The area of Group Decision Support System (GDSS) is a relatively new field. To date, most research has focused on small group activity using a Decision Room concept.‘Computer Mediated Meeting Management’(CM 3) is a new GDSS system designed to address the challenges of meetings decentralized in time and space. Design principles, operational characteristics and experiences gained from sessions using the CM 3 system are discussed. We also discuss the fundamental issues related to decentralized meetings including mechanisms to aid in identifying conversational threads in brainstorming sessions. Unique features of the CM 3 brainstorming and voting modules are presented.
