Conservation laws for given system of equations

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Mathematics and Its Applications ((MAIA,volume 279))

Abstract

The conservation laws constitute a basic tool in the analysis of partial differential equations. They can be exploited to gain information about the properties of solutions and to determine physical quantities which are constant in time. Therefore finding the conservation laws is an important problem, encountered in fluid mechanics and nonequilibrium thermodynamics of continua.
