Abstract

The current knowledge of crystallography and morphology of nanostructured TiO2, Y2O3 and ZrO2 particles, microstructure of compacted and sintered nanostructured oxide and their sintering and creep properties is summarized. The development of the microstructure starting from isolated nanoparticles to compacts sintered to theoretical density is described. Special emphasis is given to the correlation of structural parameters to sintering parameters and mechanical properties.
