Abstract
We present an L′ image of the Galactic center with a spatial resolution of 0.38″. The image was made with a shift and add algorithm on the best of ~ 16,000 images recorded during a single night of observations. With this image we are able to make improved photometric and astrometric measurements of the embedded point sources in IRS 16 over previous observations, which will be published in a future paper. An unresolved source with L′= 12.1 mag within the ±0.2″ positional error box of Sgr A* was found in this image. Though only one object falls within the Sgr A* error box, it remains difficult to conclude with certainty that his object is the infrared counterpart to Sgr A*.
