FE-Simulation of the Wedge-Splitting Test on High Strength Concrete (HSC)

Abstract

In order to determine the fracture energy Gf, several wedge-splitting tests have been carried out on HSC, which should be confirmed numerically. Generally, in FE-simulations of wedge-splitting tests, the applied forces are modelled incompletely. A possibility is described to circumvent this inaccuracy, what results in a better approximation of the experiments. All calculations were performed using PC-DIANA 5.1.
