Part of the book series: Computational Imaging and Vision ((CIVI,volume 2))

Abstract

In the past, image processing techniques for quality control were mostly based on local measurements such as the computation of the histogram. Nowadays, algorithms based on morphology or complex filtering are widely used and allow us to tackle applications that were impossible to solve in the past with a standard system.

With the emergence of very sophisticated processors which can turn a standard computerized imaging system into a very high-speed system, architectured around a fast pipe-line, it is now possible to use complex image processing algorithms in real-time. This paper presents six applications involving high level algorithms.
