Abstract
This paper is on the topic what the pattern of economic relations between the OECD countries and Eastern Europe may be in the future and how this pattern may then affect developments in the South. The main focus is on economic relations in the field of trade, private credits and investment, and official credit and aid facilities.
Because of the complete nature of the relevant economic interactions a model specification is used in which all these interactions are explicitly included in an interregional system. The model which has the character of a simulation model is then used for the design of four basic scenarios to investigate the long-term welfare implication of various possible processes of conversion to a market economy in Central and Eastern Europe for particular groups of developing countries.
