Abstract
Global Warming Potentials (GWPs) serve a useful purpose in providing a set of numbers, one for each trace gas, which represent their relative climate impact on a mass emitted basis. GWPs for a number of trace gases are presented for a sustained or slab emission scenario of 1 million tonnes per year over a 100 year time horizon. Direct and indirect radiative impacts are described for methane, carbon monoxide, oxides of nitrogen, hydrocarbons and ozone.
