Abstract
At the Brussels Conference in 1919, the Italian delegate A. Ricco had invited the IAU to hold its first Assembly in Italy, and V. Volterra confirmed this during the summer of 1921 on behalf of the Italian Academy, the Reale Accademia dei Lincei.
