Abstract
A panel of distinguished United Nations officials, emergency services providers, and scientific and social scientist researchers met with the participants of the International Symposium on Geophysical Hazards in Developing Countries and their Environmental Impacts at the University for Foreigners at Perugia, Italy. Cochaired by James Lander (University of Colorado, U.S.A.) and Professor Franco Siccardi (Hydraulic Institute, Genoa, Italy), the Panel included Dr John Tombin, (UNDRO); Dr I. Oliounine (UNESCO); Professor Douglas Nielson (University of Idaho); Professor Alvin Mushkatel (University of Arizona); Dr Y. Tsuji (University of Tokyo); and Dr E.
