Abstract
From the results of a critical analysis of some absolute solar radiance measurements, we determine two of the most reliable series for the range 1.0–2.4 μm. The absolute scale for both series are corrected using modern experimental data. The resulting data show the presence of an unknown source of absorption in the region 2.0–2.4 μm in the photosphere.
