Abstract

In the next two chapters I work out my chief example of a complete theory, namely, physical geometry. The bulk of the present chapter is constituted by the discussion of the conventionality of physical geometry. Unlike the issues of testability and confirmation, addressed in chapter two, the conventionality problem has not been at the focus of attention of the philosophy of science community. Quite the opposite. A lot of people regard it as a dead issue. Still, it actually crops up time and again and seems to linger on in the wings. It appears to represent a robust third-rank issue.
