Abstract
Seas along more than 18 000 km continental coast of China are, from north to south, the Bohai Sea, the Huanghai Sea, the East China Sea and the South China Sea. They extend over 38 latitudes of temperate, subtropical and tropical zones, and have 5000 islands. Geological environments and hydrological conditions in harbors and bays along the coast vary greatly, especially in water temperature, salinity and width of harbors and bays. Consequently, fouling organisms in China are very complicated.
