Abstract

Lochan Dubh is a small monomictic, nutrient-poor dystrophic lake which exhibits summer stagnation and lies near the east shore of Loch Lomond at the Ross Peninsula. It lies within the SSSI which covers much of the oak woodland on the east shore of Loch Lomond and at its nearest lies 50 m from the University Field Station at Rowardennan, established by Glasgow University in 1965.
