Abstract

The role of multinuclear NMR, especially 1H MAS spectroscopy, in studying acidic sites relevant to catalysis is examined, especially for zeolites. The relationship between the chemical shift of a hydroxyl proton and its acidity is discussed The appearance of various kinds of Brönsted and Lewis acid sites of zeolites in 1H, 29Si and 27Al NMR spectra are examined, and comparisons are made to related IR data.
