Abstract
Chironomidae in both aquatic and aerial stages are low in the food chain and contribute largely to the food of other groups of animals. This chapter reviews literature citing chironomids as food for a whole range of organisms and suggests how conditions can be altered by humans to increase production of chironomids as food for specific targeted organisms.
