  • Chapter

Abstract

Although the use of steels in the aeronautical field has been gradually declining over the years, they still account for approximately 10% of the structural weight in fixed and rotary winged aircraft. Furthermore, the applications for which they are used are considered highly critical, in which failure of one of these vital components could jeopardize the safety of the aircraft.
