Abstract
α2-Macroglobulin is a broad spectrum protease inhibitor with a molecular weight of 720 000 Da and containing 9% carbohydrate. It has a complex structure with eight polypeptide chains arranged in stable dimers around an active site. Serum concentration shows considerable age and sex variation.
