Abstract
The immunoglobulins are a family of antibody proteins with a common structure of two non-identical pairs of polypeptide chains, the heavy (H) and light (L) chains. Class and effector functional specificity are conferred by the H chains whilst antigen binding is a function of the V-domain of the H and L chains in combination.
