Abstract
The pituitary hormones TSH, LH, and FSH and the placental hormone hCG are dimeric glycoproteins consisting of α- and β-polypeptide chains or subunits. Whilst the β-subunits are specific for the hormone and confer the specific biological acitivity, the α-subunits are common to all four hormones.
