Abstract
Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a family of acidic glycoproteins derived from the surface glycocalyx of gastrointestinal and related epithelia. With a molecular weight of about 200 000 Da and containing 55% carbohydrate, there is considerable inter- and intra-molecular heterogeneity.
