Abstract
There are two principal ways in which solvent selection can influence waste minimisation:
-
through the effect of solvent on the efficiency of the reaction: a higher reaction efficiency means that there is less waste
-
by facilitating solvent recycle: solvent which can be easily recovered and recycled can minimise process waste
