Abstract
On rare occasions an oil company might find that its interpretation of seismic cross-sections is being affected by a lack of knowledge about the very shallow section. Depths to seismic horizons, computed originally from the information provided by the seismic records, might be found, after the first drilled holes have been made, to be substantially incorrect.
