Abstract

As is well known, in 1543 Copernicus’s De Orbium Caelestium was published with an anonymous foreword. This foreword, as Kepler clearly saw, was not Copernicus’s, but had been written by the editor of the book, the Lutheran theologian Andreas Osiander.
