Examination of the digestive tract begins with further definition of the problems described by the owner. In addition to the abnormalities mentioned by the owner in the general history (Chapter 6), there may be such signs as dysphagia (difficult swallowing or complete inability to swallow), vomiting, regurgitation, abnormal feces and abnormal defecation, eructation of gas from the stomach, frequent swallowing, flatulence, borborygmi, and abdominal pain.
