Abstract

The closely related galactic clusters M16 and M17 were selected for spectroscopy around the DIBs λλ5780/5797 and λ6203 for the anomalous reddening law prevailing therein. It is evident that the band strengths differ markedly between and that there is no increase of DIB strength within the clusters.
