Abstract

A magnesium- 8.5 wt.% lithium-1 wt.% calcium-1 wt.% yttrium alloy was rapidly solidified using the Liquid Dynamic Compaction technique. Microstructures and properties of the alloy were studied in the as-deposited state and after hot and cold rolling and annealing treatments. Different combinations of hot and cold work and annealing treatments were done to refine the microstructure. Room temperature hardness and tensile tests were performed on rolled and annealed specimens.
