Abstract
We borrow the norm dual to that given by the Kubo-Martin-Schwinger construction and apply it to classical statistical mechanics, where it provides a much stronger sense of convergence than the e 1-norm. We show that the “equivalence of ensembles” for the ideal gas holds in this sense, and obtain an estimate for the relative entropy in terms of this norm.
