Abstract
In this chapter we express the local Petrovskii cycles of strictly hyperbolic operators in the standard terms of singularity theory, and find the local lacunas close to many singularities of wave fronts. All the ingredients of the lacuna problem for such operators are reformulated in terms of the singularity theory of functions, so that this chapter can be read independently of the previous one
