Book cover Bioethics Yearbook

Part of the book series: Bioethics Yearbook ((BIYB,volume 4))

Abstract

During the years 1991–1993, bioethics continued to flourish and expand in Canada. This development occurred despite the fact that these years were part of the worst economic downturn Canadians had experienced since the 1930s. This chapter will discuss the major governmental, judicial and professional activities of importance for bioethics during this period.

I am grateful to Judith Bedford-Jones and Diane Woollard, Department of Ethics and Legal Affairs, Canadian Medical Association, for their invaluable assistance in the preparation of this chapter. Some of the material included here has appeared in the “Canadian Bioethics Report” section of Humane Medicine. It is used here with permission.
