Abstract
The comprehensive changes that have taken place in the country after 1989 have affected the S&T organizations also. In 1993, the S&T activity was run by 516 units. The majority of them are State-owned — 476, which accounts for 92.2 percent of the total number of companies. The private sector in 1993 covered only 6 percent of the total number (31 private companies) which was a considerable increase compared to 1992 — only 11 private companies were involved in the S&T sector.
