Abstract

Non scholae, sed vitae discimus (we do not learn for school but for life). Generations of teachers have tried to make their students believe in this saying. Generations of children have had difficulties in linking school-based knowledge, skills and values to their daily reality out of school and after schooling. In the late 60s, early 70s of our century these children, for many different reasons and motives, received unexpected support from educational policymakers, sociologists, business, and international organizations.
