Abstract

The measurement of time change in the liquid film thickness and the visual observation of the interface and the flow inside the liquid film were carried out for air-water wavy/annular two-phase flows in a horizontal pipe. The liquid-film time traces obtained at different peripheral locations and the images of visualized liquid flow were processed. The contribution of disturbance waves to the liquid transport downstream was found to become small for higher liquid flow rate. The wave-crest line lines of disturbance waves are found curved. The existence of a secondary flow may be suggested in the back side of disturbance waves.
