Abstract
Optical fibre ribbons are linear arrays of fibres, held together by a common acrylate coating, often called the matrix material. A ribbon would typically contain 2, 4, 6, 8, 10 or 12 fibres. Even 16 fibre ribbons are being contemplated. Figure 1 is a photograph of a 4 fibre ribbon end.
