Abstract
Calcifications and ossifications in orbital tumors are quite rare. Vascular orbital diseases sometimes show calcification. These findings can be very important in the differential diagnosis of orbital tumors, as they are consistent with the presence of benign vascular orbital disease. Calcifications can be found with CT scan, plain X ray, echography. While MRI is not useful, standardized echography is the most sensitive test in finding this kind of lesions showing small and very reflective areas followed by a shadow, related to the presence of phleboliths. Moreover in this paper the effects of a contrast agent in the evaluation of an orbital tumor is discussed.
