Abstract
The ideas on meaning and truth presented and discussed in the preceding chapters may be applied to a variety of problems in philosophical semantics, whether pure (general) or applied (to, e.g., scientific theories). We have dealt with sundry problems in applied semantics throughout the foregoing chapters. Let us now face three problems in pure or general semantics, namely those of extension, vagueness, and definite description: in our system all of them presuppose the theories of reference, sense, and truth.
